Civil Registration of  New Zealand births, deaths and marriages commenced in 1848.
To obtain a legal certificate photocopy of a birth, marriage or death entry in the register all you will need is to provide some details about your ancestor. Photocopies are copies of original BMD entries. No proof of identity is required for any certificates covered by the dates below.
